Delta Zeta National History
Delta Zeta was founded in 1902 on the 24th of October at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. All together, there are 160 chapters in the US, UK, and Canada. Our colors are rose and green, and the Roman lamp is our official symbol. Our flower is the pink killarney rose, our stone the diamond, and our mascot is of course, the turtle! Delta Zeta's national philanthropy is speech and hearing while we partner with Gallaudet University and the Starkey Hearing Foundation and work with The Painted Turtle Camp as our national service project. At the 2016 national convention in July, Delta Zeta presented a donation to the Starkey Hearing Foundation for one million dollars! In addition to this, Delta Zeta also presented The Painted Turtle Camp with 300,000 dollars! Our 6 lovely founders are Julia Bishop, Anne Simmons, Mabelle Minton, Alfa Lloyd, Mary Collins, and Anna Keen. Delta Zeta encourages personal growth and holds our core values of friendship, service, and scholarship dear to our hearts.
The Delta Upsilon chapter of Delta Zeta was founded on Marshall University’s campus in 1956.
